Supporting Small Holder Farmers

Currently, the division buys the following from the small holders spread across the country:

- 300 tons of paprika

- 50 tons of Bird's Eye Chillies

- 100 tons of groundnuts

Building Capacity

The division is also working to build capacity of its farmers through continuous trainings, field days, farm visits and making information available in order to improve quality of these commodities (Aflatoxin management). The division intends to acquire equipment that will help buyers test Aflatoxin contamination and moisture levels while in the field which will help ensure only quality produce is harvested.

Registration of farmers around the farms is targeting 1000 to 1500 smallholder farmers. These farmers would benefit from the technologies displayed at these farms by practising the same in their fields and also from the smallholder produce market offered by the company. This also will help strengthen the relationship between the farm and the people around who actually provide labour for the farms.
